Wordles
What is a Wordle?
A Wordle is an automated word cloud. A word cloud is simply a visual representation of a text. It takes the words of a text and creates a cluster or cloud of those words. The more a word is repeated, the larger it appears in the cloud. Within Wordle.net you can manipulate the cloud in some ways (change color, font and word direction) but you can't necessarily manipulate the shape.

How do I make a Wordle?
There are two ways to make a wordle: with a prepared text or a list of words.

  2. Copy the text (highlight it, right click and choose "copy")
  3. Go to Wordle.net
  4. Click "Create"
  5. Paste text in the box (right click in the box, choose "paste")
  6. Click "Go"
  7. When you've chosen a Wordle design that you like, save your wordle (see directions below)

Make sure your wordle has a white background. Any Wordles created with colored backgrounds will not be printed.
Saving your Wordle:
  1. Click "Save to Public Gallery"
  2. Where it says "Title" type in your last name, plus your book title (Ex: Cucchetti Wordle)
  3. Where it says "Username" type in your teacher's name, plus your class period (Ex: Schwarz4) Don't put a space!!!
  4. Click "OK".

Wordle hints:
If you want a word to appear bigger than other words, type that word multiple times.
If you want a group of words to stay together, don't put a space between them, put a tilde (~) between the words.
Example: Timberwolf~Library

If you choose "Randomize" it will change the color, font and shape of your Wordle at random. Just be aware that once you hit randomize, you can't go back to a previous design
